My projects

Every now and then I get an idea into my head, and sometimes I actually get round to making it.   So far that has only happened once, well, as far as web projects are concerned that is.   Anyway, this page exists to detail such ideas – currently there’s only one, but maybe it will find a friend in the not-too-distant future.

ScaleFinder

I think it must be 10 years now, anyway, some time ago I made a little Windows program that would display notes from scales on a picture of a guitar fret board.   I’d just got a theory book from my big sister for my birthday and I wanted to learn all the scales – so I decided to make a little program to help me, and so was born ScaleFinder.   Once I’d learnt some scales and modes, (and then promptly forgot them, well, they’re all basically the same anyway) ScaleFinder got forgotten about.

That was until last year when I decided to make a web version of it, however this time the motivation wasn’t learning scales, rather to learn about marketing and promotion.   So I set about making the website, but soon found out that marketing and promotion are not at all easy beasts to slay!   One day perhaps I well get round to doing some proper marketing for it, afterall it would be nice to make a little return on it through advertising, but for now I’ll leave it as a lesson learnt the hard way “leave marketing to someone else”.
